You Can Now Use Pixel 2’s Portrait Mode in Your Smartphone

by | Jan 4, 2018 | Smartphones

Among the best things about Google’s second-gen Pixel smartphones is its camera performance. Chief among the host of things the Pixel and Pixel 2 XL can do is Portrait Mode, which produces the soft blurring of the photo’s background to achieve somewhat of a bokeh effect.

Though other OEMs have their own version of it, Google’s Portrait Mode is faster and more efficient and, oh, lest I forget, exclusive to Pixel devices. However, a bunch of developers decided to mod what is essentially a replication of the Google Camera apk, called Camera NX enhanced, which should run on older Google phones like the Pixel, Pixel XL, and Nexus 5X, and non-Google phones running Oreo such as OnePlus 5/5T, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, and the like.

To get Google’s Portrait mode, you simply need to download the Camera NX enhanced apk (download here) and install it on your phone. No rooting is required.
