Meet the OPPO Find X: The futuristic borderless flagship
OPPO Find X has officially been announced today at The Louvre in Paris, France. Marking the first Find smartphone the Chinese company has released since 2014, the Find X boasts a full-fledged buffet of new features to drool over, including an all-phone borderless display with a whopping 93.8% screen-to-body ratio, edging out its sister company’s best efforts with the Vivo Nex (at 91.24%).
On this post, we’ll discuss everything we know so far about the OPPO Find X, as well as price and availability in the Philippines.
But first, some housekeeping. What’s new? Well, first off, that ugly, frankly needless notch is thrown out the gondola. Good riddance. That, instead, is switched out with an all-screen display with the rear-facing and front camera tucked inside the display. And when we say tucked, honey, we mean tucked. It pops in and out when you’re using the camera, much like the one that’s available on the Vivo Nex, except this one retracts a whole forehead instead of a nib.
There’s also a few enhancements to the cameras, and it’s nice to know that they’re still rooted to the branding OPPO has so exhaustively established. Called Smart Selfie Capture, it is a culmination of the company’s innovation in their hardware, on their software, and with artificial intelligence (theirs, aptly, is called AI beautification). The feature works in the similar vein as iPhone X’s Selfie Portrait mode.
The rest is staple flagship stuff, but no less impressive: there’s a robust, top-of-the-line processor (Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845), a hefty RAM-internal storage combo (8GB/256GB), and a decent battery with fast-charging support (3,730 mAh).
Here’s OPPO Find X’s full list of specs:

With all that power, no one can expect this to be a cheap device. And it isn’t. As of press time, the OPPO Find X is priced at EUR999, which roughly converts at PHP60,000. That pricing is aggressive, market-wise, in that this is the first OPPO phone that will officially be retailed Stateside and in Europe. OPPO is obviously picking a fight with Apple’s disgustingly popular iPhone X, pricing and feature-wise, and it’d be interesting watch to see where it goes.
As for availability, OPPO will begin selling the handset in Europe in August. Local availability isn’t announced yet, either, but we’re thinking it will be patiently waiting for Q4 when the big guns—the new Samsungs, Huaweis, and iPhones—are on-display.
