Netflix and TV5 Forge Partnership: First Filipino Series Premieres this April
Netflix is serious about going local.
They have entered a partnership with TV5 for the first ever Filipino series to premiere on their platform. The movie and T.V.-streaming giant has bought the rights to stream Brillante Ma Mendoza’s 12-part series “Amo”, which is set against the backdrop of Duterte’s notorious drug war. The series is originally set to air at TV5, but with the recent deal the network has struck with ESPN, the series creators have found that Netflix would be a more suitable home for the series.
“Amo” is the first Filipino series to air on Netflix. It premieres April 9th. Watch the trailer:
