Lenovo’s new flagship comes with insane 95% screen-to-body ratio
Lenovo just announced their mind-blowing new flagship, the Lenovo Z5. It comes with an insane 95% screen-to-body ratio, managing to offer a full-display experience.
The tease comes from Lenovo vice president Chang Cheng via Weibo, China’s dominating social network. Cheng shared a photo of a sketch of what the phone potentially will look like, which shows an all-screen smartphone—without a notch!—framed by ultra-thin bezels.
Though details are so far kept under a tight lid, the Z5, according to Cheng, will include “four technological breakthroughs, including 18 patented technologies”. This can mean a number of things, but our fingers are crossed that it will be that Lenovo has found a way to embed the front-facing camera under the screen, in the same fashion as the Vivo Apex phone embedded its in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The Lenovo Z5 adds to the list of virtually bezel-less smartphones, including the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and the Vivo Apex. This is good for Lenovo, whose acquisition of Motorola hasn’t really borne any sweet fruit. We’re hoping Lenovo will yield great results from this innovation.
