A New Bunch Of Sony Xperia Phones Have Surfaced
Sony Philippines has confirmed the existence of at least 3 new devices this year: the Sony Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra, and L2. Below are some leaked renders, which, if they’re any indication, looks direly outdated, what with the excessive chins and foreheads (with the exception of the XA2 Ultra, sporting a single front-facing camera).
Almost every OEM has found a way to keep up with 2017-esque aesthetic of little to no bezels, but it seems like Sony is still struggling a bit. No hard details yet re: pricing, but it’s likely that Sony will be positioning the devices as premier devices and thusly will be attached to a high-tier price tag. This means trouble: it’s not like Sony is beefing up its phones with high-powered internals. It’s going to be an uphill battle justifying the price point, if ever.
According to GSM Arena, on which the CAD schematics are leaked, the Sony Xperia XA2 “is expected to come with a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, the Snapdragon 630 SoC, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. On the rear will sit a 21 MP snapper capable of 4K video capture, and an 8 MP cam will take care of selfies.”
“The XA2 Ultra should use the same chipset and rear camera as its smaller sibling. It will ship with a 6-inch 1080p display, however, and a dual 16 MP selfie shooter system. 4GB of RAM will be in, and 64GB of storage expandable via microSD. Both the XA2 and the XA2 Ultra will run Android Oreo.”
“The Xperia L2 will boast a 5.2-inch 720p touchscreen, but may disappointingly come with Android Nougat on board when it launches. It might be powered by the same Snapdragon 630 as the other two, but that’s all we know about it right now.”
Official release dates, spec sheets, and pricing details are yet to be released, but keep it us with as we’re posting as soon as they become available.
