New Pokémon Go Bug Makes Catching Pokémon Faster

by | Feb 14, 2018 | Gaming

A video showcasing a bug in Pokémon Go has surfaced online. The bug allows users to do what is called “driveby catching”, which bypasses the game’s Pokémon-catching animation.

Watch the video below:

Here’s how it works:

  1. While in battle, hold the Poké Ball menu and try to catch the Pokémon.
  2. When the ball hits, let go of the menu.
  3. Tap the screen to hit “Run Away” in order to be transported back to the map.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t show you if you’ve actually successfully caught a Pokémon. But it works for most of the time (as showcased in the video above). To check if you’ve actually caught the Pokémon, you’ll need to go to your Journal.

Though this is a glitch, I wonder if it’s time for Niantic and The Pokémon Company to explore options in expediting the Pokémon-catching process, even if it’s as minute as the animation. What do you guys think?
