OnePlus 6 May Sport On-Screen Fingerprint Sensor, To Come in March 2018
With the success of OnePlus 5T, OnePlus is in a very good place that affords it to become very aggressive. And aggressive, it looks like, will be their approach with their next flagship, the OnePlus 6.
According to GizmoChina, OnePlus might be moving up the release date for their newest flagship as early as March this year, instead of what has been the standard release date which is June. Their “T” models, of course, get a release date later the year around November. This is a sensible shift, if ever, following complaints from users telling how easy their non-T models become obsolete with only a few months’ reign before the better T model arrives in the market.
And this is one aspect that OnePlus does good. Poised as an enthusiast-friendly brand, the company is known to listen to customer feedback. A good example of this is the sluggishness of Android updates, something that OnePlus, in a bid to do good with its promise, has been working on both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T—and has recently followed through.
What’s more intriguing, though, is that the phone will sport an on-screen, underglass fingerprint sensor. This is, of course, something that Apple has notoriously failed to do with iPhone X, and instead, had to rely on Face ID, a feat that’s not exactly unmatched; in fact, OnePlus 5T’s own Facial ID is just as fast (sometimes faster) than Apple’s facial recognition. If OnePlus times it right, they would be the first company to bring such a feature to the market and they would be able to afford to build a hardware that’s truly near-bezelless.
