Meet the Lumix GH5s

by | Jan 10, 2018 | Cameras

If you’re looking to get a Lumix mirrorless, there’s no other reason to get the ones prior to the Lumix GH5s. Panasonic is making truly compelling arguments as to why this should be your next mirrorless camera, chief among them is the uber-smart image resolution decrease, allowing for enhanced image quality in low light, with up to 51,200 ISO recording without extended ISO. This is an obvious jab at Sony a7S II, the GH5’s biggest competitor, whose low light capabilities are mind blowing.

Unveiled at Panasonic’s showcase at CES 2018, the Lumix GH5s is shaping up to be a great option for pros wanting a budget solution for still and video photography. From the outside, this could easily become a best friend to the serious, established, but budget-smart filmmaker. Panasonic assures that the camera can still produce crisp, vivid 4K footage (read: Panasonic’s “true Cinema 4K (4096 x 2160)” at 60 fps, a first in mirrorless cameras) in spite of the resolution decrease, and if the folks at DP Review are to be believe, I’d say Panasonic isn’t lying.

Here are some key specs for Panasonic’s Lumix GH5s.
