Do We Really Need This Pokémon GO-clone with Jurassic World Dinosaurs In It?
The trailer for the new Jurassic World mobile game, “Jurassic World: Alive”, has reached the interwebs. Does it go beyond being an unabashed rip-off of Pokémon Go?
Short answer: I don’t think so.
Pokémon Go works for the franchise because collecting Pokémon has always been its call-to-action (see: “Gotta catch ‘em all!” tagline). For the case of “Jurassic World: Alive,” it sounds like a half-baked idea with little to none on the follow-through. It exists, it appears, to ring up some buzz for the upcoming “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” movie, but beyond that, this shouldn’t even hit the Stores.
It would have been great if the mobile game itself will take advantage of smartphones’ exponentially growing AR support by having the dinosaurs interact with real-life environments. Show through the game a world infested with resurged dinos—a possible aftermath should Chris Pratt’s good looks couldn’t tame them enough to stay on a deserted island.
Regardless of all that, here’s the trailer for the game.
