Huawei Nova 3: As great as Huawei P20 but not as expensive

by | Jul 19, 2018 | Smartphones

A Sony A7 III that can fit in your pocket!

Huawei has released two variants of its long-gestured third-gen Nova phones—the Huawei Nova 3 and Huawei Nova 3i—and they’ve hit it with quite a bang.

Everybody knows about the Huawei P20, and everybody wants to have one. The trouble, you see, is that not everybody can afford the price tag attached to it. But like your favorite tito, Huawei pulls a “say no more, inaanak” move that’s as delightful as the new phones it has on offer.

Huawei Nova 3: Specs, pricing, and availability

Between the two, the Nova 3 is Huawei’s higher-spec, overall better clone that looks just like a Huawei P20, but offers a whole lot more value thanks to its price.

It packs plenty of the same design and specs of the P20, from the crazy-impressive internals—Kirin 970, Android 8.1 Oreo (with EMUI 8.2), 6GB RAM/128GB ROM—to the sprightly color options: Primrose Gold, Light Blue, Blue Purple, and Bright Black. It also has a quad-cam system. At the back, there’s a 16-megapixel color sensor and a 24-megapixel monochrome sensor. In front, there’s another 24-megapixel shooter accompanied by a 2-megapixel depth. Finally, the Huawei Nova 3 comes with the GPU Turbo feature out of the box, ensuring better gaming performance.

Huawei Nova 3i: Specs, pricing, and availability

The Huawei Nova 3i is the follow-up to Huawei’s beloved mid-range flagship, the Nova 2i. It has a Kirin 710 processor and packs the same 6GB/128GB combo. The cameras are also configured differently, a smaller battery capacity, and a head-scratching micro-USB charging port. These are all very notable compromises, but are sensible considering the phone’s price.
