Apple AirPods 2 Might Arrive in Late 2018
The Apple AirPods didn’t justify the omission of the headphone jack, what it justified was the demand for wireless earphones. That wires are a nuisance in numerous situations of our lives—be it running at the gym, commuting in the MRT, or just walking about in the streets—is highlighted now that wireless earphones have hit the mainstream.
But don’t take it from me, Apple stores almost always run out-of-stock of the product. This is due to two things: one, the demand—around 98 percent of customers say they’re “very satisfied” with their buds—and short supply, which has always been Apple’s weakest point (iPhone X production issues, anyone?)
Regardless, the AirPods is one of the most sought-out products in Apple’s repertoire. And it looks like they’ll be back for a second time. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, an esteemed Apple analyst, who had released the Apple AirPods 2 research note to clients, the wireless buds will hit the market in the second half of 2018.
From Kuo’s notes:
Media reports over the past few days on brisk AirPods demand and Apple struggling to keep up with holiday season demand align with our findings and positive predictions on AirPods in several previous reports. […]
In 2018, we predict AirPods shipments will grow 100% YoY to 26-28mn units. We forecast the ASP of RFPCB for upgraded AirPods in 2H18 may increase, further benefiting business momentum of Unitech and Compeq.
